HP Mini 2140

ImageOne of the best netbooks that we tested so far, HP 2133 Mini-Note , has got its successor in form of, eagerly awaited, HP Mini 2140. Beside display size (8.9 inch at older and 10.1inch on the new model) differences between HP 2133 and HP 2140 are minimal when it comes to external aesthetics. Chassis is 6mm longer and 1mm wider and ventilation grills are redesigned. For all those that are not familiar with our review of HP 2133 we will just say that HP 2133 has very good quality build and nice business look.

Acer Aspire 8730G

ImageWe are sure that most of you don’t fantasize about big and heavy notebook models, but then again, we are also sure that most of you would like to own a notebook like Acer Aspire 8730G. If multimedia features of notebook mean to you more than mobility and portability than this “giant” will draw your attention for sure. Don’t let this initial description scare you. Acer Aspire One D150

ImageThe age of netbooks has started with models that had 7 inch displays. Very soon all of us noticed that this is not enough, so models with 8, 9 and 10 inch displays became netbook mainstream models. Acer postponed presentation of its 10 inch model for a long time but it seems that they have made a right decision because this will be, probably, the year of transition to 10 inch models. As a reminder, we will tell you that ASUS has announced discontinuance of its 8 and 9 inch display Eee PC models. Finally, in our test lab has appeared Acer Aspire One D150: new Acer’s trump card in the netbook deck.

MSI EX620

ImageWhen we characterize design of an notebook, in most cases we describe it or as neutral business or as visually very attractive. MSI EX620 is somewhere in between: very nice notebook without tacky and too showy details but still unusual and pleasing. Ocean Wave design is much noticeable on this than on some earlier models and now same wavy texture is noticeable on palm rest area. Interesting detail is transition of Ocean Wave texture to black, on sides of notebook. This is just a detail but it really looks nice. Thanks to mentioned texture and bright gray colored palm rest area, fingerprints are not that noticeable compared to notebooks that also have piano finish on palm rest area.

Asus X59GL

ImageOne of ASUS trumps in category of cheap portable notebooks is model X95GL. In X59 series last two alphabet characters are very important and “carry” information about platform on which is notebook based. In this case “GL” means that this model is based on NVIDIA solution and not on unpopular SiS chipset as it is the case with, for example, X59Sr model.

HP Compaq 6730b

ImageIt seems that difference between “B” and “S” series of HP notebooks was never more distinctive then in recent period at least when it comes to quilt quality. HP Compaq 6735s didn’t impress us but HP 6730b is worthy to represent its famous manufacturer. Big difference between those two series can be noticed after first contact. Chassis of HP Compaq 6730b is very stiff and whole notebook looks like robust and reliable piece of hardware thanks to roll-cage that is reinforced by magnesium alloy.
