It is one of the latest cameras designed for lower consumer’s class, which can be attractive to wide range of users who care about the price. Camera has small dimensions and it is handy, with fixed protective lens cover. Its dimensions are very similar to those in flapper cell phone, and uninformed observer can be easily misled.
Utility is simple and camera itself has acceptable operating speed. Casing is made of dark plastic, and although manufacturing quality is on acceptable level, detailed inspection will clearly show properties of distinguish price range; camera buttons seem cheap and loosely, so does movable cover. However, battery compartment cover is made of slightly firmer plastic, giving the impression of durability in daily application.

On the back of the camera there is fairly good 2 inch color display, navigation and menu button, OK button for selection confirmation and button for viewing images. On the lower part is standard notched winding used for mounting camera on tripod. We assume that many buyers, target-group for this product will not know what this is used for, and won’t use it, because it is made of plastic and may easily be damaged. On this right-lateral side is battery compartment opening, as well as micro USB port. Using this feature, the camera is connected to the computer.
There is a lack of protective rubber shim, and dirt can easily penetrate into the port. On upper side is photograph button, which is not being used for turning camera on. The camera is turned on and off by moving slider-shape cover which is covering fixed lens on the front side. Basically, this is very convenient solution enabling camera to be used only with one hand. On the right-lateral edge there is button for switching camera into macro mode (taking close-range images).
One of the positive sides of this device is that it uses two AA batteries. In this manner, users are free to use rechargeable batteries or to simply change them with spare batteries in the pocket. For image shooting is used Secure Digital flash memory card, with supported models up to 2 GB. However, camera is coming without a card, so it is necessary to plan this purchase in the very beginning. On the other hand, buyer gets nice case for handling, which enables to position device on belt. The package contains USB cable and CD with software.
BenQ DC C610 has 6 mega pixel image sensor, which provides the following image resolutions: 2816 x 2112 pixel, as well as 2272 x 1704, 1600 x 1200, and 640 x 480. Right after moving cover, camera is in capture mode, while switching to „Movie“ mode is enabled upon pushing the navigation button. Pushing Menu button provides basic camera menu, where functions supported by this devices can be adjusted. ISO value (sensor sensitivity) can be adjusted in paces: 50, 100, 200 and AUTO. In practice this means that auto adjustment can change ISO value in range between 50 and 400. Due to quantity of digital noise in images of this camera, one should have in mind that all values exceeding 100 ISO are good only for screen watching.
Camera has basic automatic modes: landscape, portrait, sport, night... with lack of any sort of manual adjustment of lens opening and exposition. One of favorable features is that camera can be used as PC Web camera; in this manner, you get two products in one. Basically, C610 can be purchased to a child as his/hers first camera, or perhaps to yourself as good substitute for cell phone camera.
