Toshiba Satellite L300-11G

Beside Satellite A300 and P300 notebook series, Toshiba also released on market redesigned Satellite L series. We will introduce you with all novelties through testing of model Toshiba Satellite L300-11G. L series didn’t experience that much cosmetic changes like new A and P series did. We could even say that Satellite L300 is less “fancy” than its predecessor. Some of us will count that as big plus because L300 has above all “neutral” design. ...

ATi Radeon HD 4870 X2

Launch of nVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 280 brought a huge enthusiasm in last two months, but it already begun to fade. The main “culprit” is ATi which showed to all of us that even when hard times come they are continuing with good work as if competition isn't a problem and as confirmation of their efforts we got incredible new generation of graphics cards. The whole story started with great Radeon HD 4850 and continued with HD 4870 that had GDDR5 memory. After great critics for these two GPUs, ATi was aware that they shouldn’t stop there, if they want to overthrown nVIDIA from the top performance throne. And they did it… ...

ASUS Crosshair II Formula

Engineers from ASUS took into account every little detail while designing Crosshair II Formula motherboard and by taking a closer look at layout it is obvious that they didn’t economize with components integrated into this motherboard. This had big impact on final price tag for this motherboard but all this doesn’t guarantee that configuration based on this motherboard will work flawlessly and be able to satisfy needs of every overclocker out there. ...

Biostar A740G M2+

Biostar introduced “office version” of motherboard based on “office” AMD RS740 chipset. Graphics core is based on RV410, identical graphics core as for AMD RD690 chipset. DX10 is not supported, which isn’t a big problem because there isn’t any integrated graphics that can run DX10 games with decent framerate yet.     ...

ImageAsus with its Eee PC mini notebook concept made a great move, starting avalanche that still spreads. Almost there is no big manufacturer of notebooks on market that didn’t launch or announced similar product. Besides huge popularity that Asus Eee PC 701 got, there were some objections which dissuaded a lot of potential buyers from shopping. Most criticism was targeted to its screen size. Even on Eee’s concept promotion (on last year’s Computex) was announced launch of bigger model, but waiting for it got prolonged more than we expected. Finally, we are in position to introduce Asus Eee PC 900 to you.

ImageCategory of small cheap notebooks became very popular and there is no wonder why most of big brands want a piece of cake for themselves. But Asus got all of them off-guard. Because of that we’ve been waiting rather long for Eee’s true rival . We’ve already mentioned MSI’s agility which allowed them again to be first with new product on market. Their trump card wears name Wind and model that InsideHW had tested is MSI Wind U100.

ImageThe long waited AMD platform for notebooks under the name PUMA is finally introduced and InsideHW had a chance to test notebook based on this platform. To all users that have been waiting cheap integrated graphics with good performances, time has come. Intel Centrino was so far “untouchable” in field of portable computers but AMD Puma, by all appearance, got a necessary quality to fight for highest position.

ImageNotebooks from Toshiba were relatively often tested in our test lab, but mostly those were models with 15.4’’ screen diagonal. Models with 13.3’’ are present on market but not as much as 15.4’’. It seems that manufacturers don’t agree with consumers’ claims that notebooks with 13.3’’ screen have best ratio of mobility and functionality. Only one manufacturer that stands strongly with 13.3’’ models is Apple with MacBook series.
