Canon IXUS 80 IS

This point-and-shoot camera gives impression of reliability and well built product. Canon IXUS 80 IS has all standard and expected functions without unnecessary “fancy” stuff that some manufacturers implement with intention to attract customers. Canon intended this model for users who desire modern, reliable and quality photo camera without any unusual functions (with limited usability). ...

SanDisk Ducati Extreme

SanDisk, as one of mayor flash memory manufacturers, naturally has big USB flash drive portfolio. It’s very hard to stand out, when there is a huge amount of different USB flash drive models from different manufacturers on the market. Generally speaking, you can only recognize a specific type only by its different USB casing. Design of casing is something that all manufacturers pay attention to attract more customers. On the other hand, in the eyes of final user a big plus is always bigger capacity and speed of data transfers. ...

Intel Core 2 Quad CPUs Side By Side

This time we’ve compared two CPUs: Core2Quad Q9300 (this is the bottom model of current lineup) and Core2Extreme QX9650 (the top model of current lineup). We have experimented with QX9650, bringing down its multiplier so we got whole palette of Core2Quad processors from Q9x50 generation. To make evaluation of performances we have included in test even Core2Extreme QX6850 which is the top model Quad CPU from previous generation (65nm). ...

Asus EEE PC running on Windows XP

Asus made an effort and delivered very good and useful manual with EEE PC. In manual you can find detail description of how to install XP and how to customize it for best performance. By customizing we mean how to turn off all those unnecessary, by our opinion, Windows services which take up 4 GB on SSD (for example “System Restore” service). Average installation of WinXP Pro SP2 should occupy around 1.5 GB, exact same amount like our installed OS takes. To be honest, this could be reduced if you use nLite program. ...

XFX GeForce 9800GX2 1GB

DualGPU systems are very trendy in recent time and whole story begun with ATi “Gemini” project. Idea was born long time ago, when two graphics processors were integrated into one graphics card, but that idea didn’t get much popularity until now. On the other hand, ATi Radeon HD 3870X2 turned out as accessible to most users and at the same time very powerful solution. So all doubts in making investment in such card can be shattered in pieces. ...

SanDisk Ducati Extreme is a device which has a lot to offer, regarding to earlier mentioned features. It is impossible not to mention that the casing of this USB flash was made from metal and really gets impression of “ultra-quality” device. Shape of casing, without any doubt, resembles of fuel tank from some Ducati super-bike, which is used as inspiration for casing design. SanDisk went into detail so much that USB’s LED for transfer signalization is in shape of stop light on modern racing motorcycles. Although the design is very robust and inspire confidence and we can only say that design is just phenomenal. But SanDisk didn’t stop there; they went further and made a “speed devilish” device. It’s enough to take brief look at the table with test results and to conclude that this is one speed champion in our test lab. SanDisk Ducati flash drive itself has 4GB memory. It doesn’t have a USB connector cap but instead connector (golden one) can be pulled in and out using simple and robust mechanism. And this is a great solution, considering the fact that author of this text lost tons of USB flash drive caps in the past.

We established the fact, by thorough testing, that SanDisk Ducati transfers are equalized and transfer curve is approximately straight line and almost ideal. This is a result of high quality chips that are built in this USB flash drive, and that fact is important to underline, because some manufacturers use not so known “tricks”. For example, let’s say that some USB flash drive has 4 GB memory and only first 1 GB has transfer speed at 18 MB/s and after that (for the rest of 3 GB) speed drops at 7 MB/s. Only the first integrated chip is fast and for the rest manufacturer used chips that are not so fast. “Ducati” that we have tested didn’t have this kind of problem. In same package with SanDisk Ducati Extreme you will get rescuePRO Deluxe application which can be very useful and a life time warranty for device that is just another plus. Price tag of about 50€ doesn’t seem so high anymore regarding: great design, robustness and high transfer speeds.
