Toshiba Satellite L300-11G

Beside Satellite A300 and P300 notebook series, Toshiba also released on market redesigned Satellite L series. We will introduce you with all novelties through testing of model Toshiba Satellite L300-11G. L series didn’t experience that much cosmetic changes like new A and P series did. We could even say that Satellite L300 is less “fancy” than its predecessor. Some of us will count that as big plus because L300 has above all “neutral” design. ...

ATi Radeon HD 4870 X2

Launch of nVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 280 brought a huge enthusiasm in last two months, but it already begun to fade. The main “culprit” is ATi which showed to all of us that even when hard times come they are continuing with good work as if competition isn't a problem and as confirmation of their efforts we got incredible new generation of graphics cards. The whole story started with great Radeon HD 4850 and continued with HD 4870 that had GDDR5 memory. After great critics for these two GPUs, ATi was aware that they shouldn’t stop there, if they want to overthrown nVIDIA from the top performance throne. And they did it… ...

ASUS Crosshair II Formula

Engineers from ASUS took into account every little detail while designing Crosshair II Formula motherboard and by taking a closer look at layout it is obvious that they didn’t economize with components integrated into this motherboard. This had big impact on final price tag for this motherboard but all this doesn’t guarantee that configuration based on this motherboard will work flawlessly and be able to satisfy needs of every overclocker out there. ...

Biostar A740G M2+

Biostar introduced “office version” of motherboard based on “office” AMD RS740 chipset. Graphics core is based on RV410, identical graphics core as for AMD RD690 chipset. DX10 is not supported, which isn’t a big problem because there isn’t any integrated graphics that can run DX10 games with decent framerate yet.     ...

Samsung SCX 4300 PDF Print

ImageSCX 4300 is newest product from very successful Samsung SCX series A4 monochrome laser multifunctional printers. There were no revolutionary products in this product category for a long time, but SCX 4300 is device that brings few innovations regarding to SCX 4200. These innovations are related only to esthetics and printing speed.

Differences between SCX 4300 and its predecessor SCX 4200 are: insignificant shape change, black color and a little bit faster printing results. Connection with computer is realized through fast USB 2.0 connection, and direct communication between user and device is achieved through a large number of command keys and two-line display.
Maximum scanning resolution is 600x2400dpi supported with average 24bit color palette. In case of monochrome scanning or copying, maximum resolution is 600x600dpi with 256 shades of grey.

During autonomous copying, it is possible to deliver 99 copies of the very same document (you can choose this option directly on command panel) and you can do scaling of any document in range from 50% up to 200% from its original size.
Printing is realized in maximum resolution of 600dpi and it is supported with 8MB of internal device memory. Sheet cassette can hold 250 paper sheets, while output tray has capacity of only 50 sheets (face down). Capacity of “starter” cartridge that is included with Samsung SCX 4300 is also minimal. To be exact, this “starter” cartridge is expected to last for 1000 pages which is actually half of standard (replacement) cartridge capacity. So it would be advisable to activate printing option with less toner consumption, until you purchase new cartridge of full capacity. In reality this means that you need to add price of replacement cartridge to price of device itself if you plan to use its printing capabilities a lot.  This device doesn’t offer optional additions for duplex print or larger input paper cassette.

Results of test for standard printing, scanning and copying are presented in table. These results point out that this is very good balanced device attended for moderate home and business use. Printing speed is, as expected fastest for text printing and for other types of documents, printing speed is similar to this value, so we can say that Samsung SCX 4300 is printing with maximum speed of 16 pages per minute.
As for print quality is concerned it’s clear that device of average scanning resolution and printing will generate documents of average quality, but that quality is still quite adequate for most applications.

There is one more fact that we must underline. Manufacturer has declared that the maximum monthly predicted printing volume is 10.000 pages. It seems that this is too optimistic because it’s very hard to imagine that this device can handle printing 300–400 paged per day for next several months in continuity. And even if it can handle this rate of printing, this means that you will need to buy 5 new cartridges per month, which is a big expense. So for all of you that need printer with big printing capacity, you should consider some other printer, that’s more appropriate to your needs.
