Page 1 of 3  Epson Stylus Photo PX800FW is new high-end A4 inkjet photo multifunctional device. Shape and design are very innovative (when it comes to multifunctional devices). At first sight it resembles some top-notch Hi-Fi music component and not some device that is used for document scanning and copying. All surfaces have piano finish that gives this device sophisticated looks. Front side is dominated by control panel with touch sensitive controls and LCD panel in the middle.
Control menu is very good and offers fast and easy setup of many settings that most other models don’t even have implemented into drivers. For connection with surroundings, PX800FW uses almost all possibilities that can cross your mind: UCB 2.0, Ethernet, WiFi and PictBridge. If that is not enough there is memory card reader for almost all formats and optional Bluetooth adapter that can be purchased for around 30$.
Scanner that is used in PX800FW has impressive resolution: 4800x4800 dpi. Automatic Document Feeder for up to 30 documents can be used in case you need single-sided printing but it is even more useful for duplex (double sided) printing (optional). Interesting about this feature is that ADF mechanism is visible only when it is used while the rest of time it remains hidden within elegant lines of device itself.

Fax module has standard functions that are easily accessible thanks to great control interface. This module can memorize 60 predefined telephone numbers and up to 180 fax pages. Unfortunately in case of power failure or if you simply pull off power cord from device, you will lose all memorized messages (faxes) and these are, alongside with inability to send color faxes, biggest problems on this model.
Copying of documents is, again, thanks to great control panel with touch-sensitive controls, simple and easy task. There are a lot of options from quality of copying, true choice of paper, to options for reduction/magnification of final copy from 22-400% of original size.
Printing mechanism uses, as expected for an photo-printing device, 6 colors stored in separate cartridges marked from T08081 to T0806. These can be replaced by higher capacity cartridges marked from T0791 to T0796. Maximum printing resolution is, usual for most Epson printers, 5760x1440dpi. Paper tray is divided into two segments: Main paper tray and Photo paper tray. Main paper tray can store up to 100 sheets of A4 paper (80g/m2) while photo paper tray can hold up to 30 sheets of photo paper that can have maximal dimension of 18x13cm. Capacity of exit paper tray is 50 sheets of A4 paper. Duplex printing is possible but you need to purchase additional Auto Duplexer C12C802523 for around 35€.

One more interesting feature of Epson Stylus Photo PX800FW is option to print on CD or DVD media that are suitable for inkjet printing. Of course process is simple and straight-forward process thanks to innovative system of inserting media on the one side and on the other side thanks to precise control of whole process directly from device or drivers from OS. Calibration of cartridges is manual although presence of scanner could be used for totally automated calibration.
After simple driver installation procedure and installation of additional software that comes with Epson Stylus Photo PX800WF, you can choose between 5 printing modes.
