Epson B-300 is color printer with four large capacity cartridges (100ml), and their usage is quite economic. This is one of main advantages of this printer, because it enables large number of printed pages with one cartridge set. In case of black color printing only, it is able to print 3000 pages, and if color print is used, it can achieve 3500 pages. With reasonable price for cartridge change, we find that price of color printing on this printer is in the same price range as laser printers, and even cheaper with black color printing. Weight and dimensions of this printer can be compared with monochromatic laser printers. This gives robust impression, and it is confirmed with maximal printing range of 10000 pages per month. All this is accompanied with two big sheet cassettes for paper with total capacity of 650 sheets, but we would prefer a bit higher input capacity (170 sheets of paper).

Manufacturer declared extremely high printing speed, and very short time for printing of first page, which we never managed to achieve. Our results say that, in realistic conditions, printing is two times slower than declared speed, and time needed for printing the first page lasts almost three times longer than declared. However, don’t get deceived with this fact because the speed is still pretty good for a printer designed for small companies that have medium printing volume. On the other hand, although this is business related device, we were surprised that there was no possibility of printing without margins, which much cheaper printers are able to perform.

Epson B-300 is the first printer with integrated Epson Auto Nozzle Check System. Its purpose is to check printer’s head, and to clean it if necessary. This way, maximal printing quality is provided at any moment. In case that, during checkout, this system notices any problem, it will start cleaning procedure automatically. This way, long term related, down time of printer is reduced, as well as need for its manual maintaining.
