ImageWhen we characterize design of an notebook, in most cases we describe it or as neutral business or as visually very attractive. MSI EX620 is somewhere in between: very nice notebook without tacky and too showy details but still unusual and pleasing. Ocean Wave design is much noticeable on this than on some earlier models and now same wavy texture is noticeable on palm rest area. Interesting detail is transition of Ocean Wave texture to black, on sides of notebook. This is just a detail but it really looks nice. Thanks to mentioned texture and bright gray colored palm rest area, fingerprints are not that noticeable compared to notebooks that also have piano finish on palm rest area.

Construction has average firmness without significant difference compared to other MSI notebooks (except GX720 and GX735 models). Unfortunately keyboard bending is significant and this is the weakest feature of this, generally very good notebook. Even the layout of keys on keyboard is not too good. Enter key is too small for our taste and right cursor key is moved into num pad section while Fn key has swapped places with left Ctrl key.

Above keyboard are present control buttons that are lighted with blue light when they are active. These controls we saw on earlier models in similar form. Left segment is dedicated to multimedia controls while right positioned buttons are used for enabling webcam, Bluetooth and wireless adapter. In center is located ECO button that allows easier and fast switching of modes: Gaming, Movie, Presentation, Office and Turbo Battery mode. Left from it, is Cinema Pro button that enables Cinema Pro technology for better visual and audio experience during movies. Effects of this technology are very obvious. When we listened some music on this notebook for the first time, with disabled Cinema Pro, sound that was coming from speakers, had substantial power and it was somewhat “hollow” with high frequencies dominating the whole sound “picture”. This was odd since this model has sub woofer. Luckily we pressed Cinema Pro button and sound have changed toward better with low frequency sounds being accentuated and  the rest of the sound sounded like they should – nicely balanced. In this environment watching movies becomes pleasant experience.
