Page 1 of 3 It’s been a while since we tested notebook attended for professionals in 2D and 3D visualization. As buyers of these models are usually very demanding, manufacturing process and configuration are something that’s always paid attention to. And that is why smaller producers keep themselves out from these waters leaving that market to biggest and most famous brands. Among “big boys” is surely HP and this time we represent you HP model Compaq 8710w.
How big attention HP pays to this series of mobile workstations can be illustrated with an interesting detail that we saw when we unpacked the notebook. Usually notebook is wrapped in a bag but this time with notebook goes printed announcement. In version of HP software that is delivered they found some potential safety omissions, but not until it came to distributors. As nothing is left to chance in this class of notebooks, HP provided detail instructions how to update software and to minimize potential problems. All we can say is “Well done HP!” for professional approach and bearing with customers.
Exterior…
Design is conservative, quite as expected but we cannot raise any objection on quality made. Even strongest pressure on screen cover won’t cause any picture deformation. Keyboard has numeric section and bending under pressure is insignificant. Keys have deep keystrokes and typing on this notebook is very comfortable. For cursor movement, depending on your affinities, there are touchpad and point stick with three separate (mouse) keys for each. Precision of these elements is exceptional. Right above keyboard there are Quick launch keys. Instead of classic keys, those are touch sensitive and we have seen them before even on some cheaper HP notebook models.
