ImageWhen someone mentions Eee PC, people usually visualize small netbook with 7-inch screen diagonal and SSD. If that’s the case also with you than you might be surprised with the fact that Asus offers, at the moment, under its brand name more than ten different notebooks. After Eee PC 701 4G Surf and Eee PC 900 models it’s time to represent to you Eee PC 1000H model. This is netbook, as you can assume from model name, with 10-inch screen diagonal.

Even though it has the same design as older model, there are some differences between them. Around touchpad is metallic silver frame which is connected with keys. Left and right keys are now actually separated and embossed Eee PC logo is placed below screen. Power button is relocated above keyboard. In the same line with Power key are placed 4 programmable keys, which didn’t exist on previous versions.

Generally speaking, relatively monotonous design is enriched with silver details. Bigger screen means that total dimensions are bigger and therefore keyboard is also bigger. Mathematics is simple: bigger keys equal easier typing.

Novelty is, and that’s the case only for Asus Eee PC models, hardware platform. The main difference from previous models is Intel Atom processor that powers the whole computer, the very same processor that we already saw in MSI Wind and Acer Aspire One netbooks. Considering that processor and chipset are identical it’s logical that performances are almost the same. But there is one thing that isn’t same. Eee PC 1000H has 6-cell battery which doubles its autonomy compared to, at this moment, competitor’s models. This option can be crucial if you plan to use netbook during long trips.

Instead of SSD, Eee PC 1000H has 2.5-inch hard disk with 80GB capacity. We believe that there are a lot of buyers that prefer this variant. We should also mention wireless card that now has support for 802.11n standard. Built in camera gives picture of average quality and the same goes for sound system. Tested sample had installed Windows OS and we were surprised a bit when we saw installed Star Office instead of expected Open Office.

Conclusion

One more Eee PC, one more step further. Logical and quite expected improvements breathe fresh life into Eee series, but the competition didn’t sit on their hands.
