Cooler_Master_NotePal_U1_U2_intro2.jpgImageLarge and diverse notebook cooler line-up secured Cooler Master’s position on market, but at the same time they didn’t allowed themselves to live on their reputation. New notebook coolers are coming in regular intervals and this time we are presenting two products: NotePal U1 and NotePal U2. Both notebook coolers are almost the same with only real difference being their size. Despite their simple design, these coolers have few “secret” features.

New Cooler Master NotePal notebook coolers are very different from all other coolers from same manufacturer. There have straightforward design and can be found in two colors: black and light grey. NotePal coolers are passive coolers, which mean that they have no coolers mounted on them. There are versions with removable fan(s) which are also very interesting solution, since fan can be mounted at area where you notebook is hottest.

These coolers, despite their “military” look especially when in back color, actually can be considered as elegant notebook accessory. NotePal U1 and U2 are made out of brushed aluminum plate that is perforated, which allows very good airflow beneath any notebook placed on them. Added bonus are thermal conducting properties of aluminum itself, but those that are concerned about its other properties (flexibility) let us assure that Cooler Master used rather thick aluminum plate, so no significant bending was noticed.

If you take a look at pictures you can notice that all surfaces that can get in contact with notebook or working table are covered with rubber protection. Interestingly, the same rubber can be found on the “inside” of the cooler. These protection rubber surfaces are intended as protection of notebook when it is carried with cooler inside the bag. Since most small factor notebooks (netbooks) are not that much protected, this can be perfect solution. Because of this, Cooler Master NotePal U series resembles a little bit to Choiix Ergonomic Metal Sleeve product.

Cooler Master NotePal U2 is larger and intended for laptops with diagonal from 14 up to 17 inches. NotePal U1 can be used for laptops up to 14 inches in diagonal.

Conclusion

Although NotePal U1 and U2 models are not as efficient as some other active notebook coolers, both models can be interesting to users that own portables that are not getting too hot during intensive work and, at the same time, need additional protection when carried around. Of course, you can go for active models or purchase additional fan if needed. One more significant feature of NotePal U series is their price, that is significantly lower (around 20€) than the rest of the NotePal models.
