We’ll take the liberty of saying that the trend of “packing” speakers into as small a packaging as available is more than popular. We’ve tested a truly tremendous amount of 2.0 speakers during the past year going for a surround sound or trying to accommodate for the lack of a subwoofer… Some have been more or less successful, and the Z520 model we received for testing this time around shall show us what’s been cooking in the Logitech kitchen lately as far as those are concerned.

Have you ever wondered if there was a projector so small that you could put it in your bag along with the notebook, without even noticing it was there? Feel free to reply positively, because there is. Throw media player functions into the mix and you get a true delight for PC peripheral enthusiasts.

WD TV Live brings probably the most important fix comparing to WD TV - support for wired network connection. The packaging of both devices is identical, with the exception of component and composite cables that are here non-standard because of unified connector, and should be keep safe. This is subject to a greater number of connectors on the back of the device, while dimensions are almost the same. While the predecessor was made in black piano finish, now it is a matted, dark gray base, where the fingerprints are not noticeable. According to the established recipe, there are two USB ports (one on the left, the other on the back side) optical SPDIF, HDMI (this time 1.3), and remote control. The new HDMI revision brought better support for the latest HDTV equipment and supports 10, 12 or 16-bit color, which is currently important in the latest TVs, still very rare on the market.

Long time ago, in the 1980’s actually, Walkman was considered the best portable media player. In those days, walkman owners were carrying audio cassettes and AA batteries along. In those days, we expected from our audio player to play audio cassettes, while these days things are drastically different. First of all, dimensions of audio players are getting smaller every day, while even touch screens, wireless connections and similar technologies are not enough anymore. After all kinds of media players that have passed through out test lab, finally, we got one that should be very good media player and at the same time does not have lower case “i” as first letter of its name.

Predecessor of this device we reviewed in January and mentioned it few times since it was, at that time, one of the best of its kind. We are of course talking about Verbatim MediaStation Pro . At this year’s IFA we saw new MediaStation HD and had high hopes, as it looked like we got improved successor of already very good MediaStation Pro. Well, new MediaStation HD has arrived in our test lab, but this time we have mixed feelings about it.

Earlier this year LG presented its first Blu-ray player (LG BD370) which was revolutionary at that moment, and now, we present you its successor: LG BD390. Our expectations for this model were high, but we must admit that despite our high expectations we were still pleasantly surprised with features that this player offers. For now, LG BD390 is the only Blu-ray player that will allow you to get rid of your “old” DVD/DivX players, and send them to desired retirement. What’s more, this player will allow you to watch HD movies in compressed (among others MKV) format.
