Page 1 of 3 Asus M3N-HT Deluxe Mempipe is one of the first motherboards based on new nForce 780A chipset and it should be adequate competitor to great AMD 780G chipset and to arriving 790GX.
Asus offers, as many times before, exceptional product with quality design and great voltage unit. Rich bundle includes heatpipe memory cooler, additional fan for voltage unit and many more details that come as standard offer for Asus motherboards.
Asus M3N-HT Deluxe aims at wide target group with its integrated graphics, triple SLi and hybrid SLi functions, overclock capabilities and relatively high price. Only remains to see how wide will be that target group of potential users.
First thing that got our full attention is new chipset.
nForce780a
New nForce chipset supports multi GPU regime and it is the first high-end integrated chipset (Crossfire would be presented from AMD for up-coming 790GX). 780G supports crossfire and similar to that is nVidia 780a that supports hybrid SLi, which allows matching integrated GPU and additional (discreet, separate) graphics card. Also it’s interesting to take a look into power saving possibilities of this motherboard. 780a will turn off discrete graphics card if you use only 2D regime and then will be active only integrated GPU. And when you start up a 3D application (games, 3D rendering software etc), GPU on discrete graphics card will be activated and as result there will be increase in 3D performances. Using graphics card in PCI-express slot, Hybrid SLi, just like Hybrid CrossFire, will achieve better 3D performances thanks to integrated GPU. This kind of possibility is called “GeForce boost”. The only condition for this to be possible is to have appropriate compatible graphics card inserted in motherboard. “GeForce Boost” and “HybridPower” together make “HybridSLi”.
This is the first nVidia Hypertransport 3.0 chipset and it uses full advantages of new AMD K10 Phenom processors. Also nForce780a supports “split power planes”, advanced function of Phenom X3 and X4 power management. Motherboard has 3 PCI-express 16x slots and in package you will get 3-way SLi bridge. PCI-express bus is 2.0 version and it allows “squeezing” maximum performances from new GPUs.
