Page 1 of 3 ASUSTek Company has showed lately that they know their stuff, even when it comes to AMD solutions. After launching of 790GX chipset and premiere of new SB750 and its possibilities, almost all motherboard manufacturers, and among them Asus of course, introduced their solutions attended for enthusiasts. Those were motherboards with AMD 790FX chipset combined with SB750 that has ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration).
We won’t waste words on explaining what’s what because we have already written about 790GX chipset and you can read full review HERE . Just as reminder of possibilities of SB750 we should mention that it allows higher overclock margin than in cases of previous SB600 and SB700. This kind of combination that brings solid overclock platform, support for QUAD-FIRE and many other possibilities, impose itself as ideal solution for AMD enthusiasts.
M3A-79T Deluxe is motherboard with no serious fault. Power unit is standard for motherboards of this “caliber” and it is consisted of 8 pairs of MOSFETs plus 2 pairs for northbridge, which means that is possible to achieve stable overclock even with processor that needs much more than default 140W. Cooling solution and very quality electrolytes are used which resulted in reliability of motherboard in extreme exploitation conditions.

Power unit doesn’t have warming up tendencies, which is mutual characteristic for most motherboards from last generation. BIOS has all necessary parameters for system tuning and among most important for Phenom processors is possibility to set voltage, multipliers for integrated northbridge/L3, memory, processor etc… BIOS allows “pulling out” maximum performances from K10 microarchitecture and memory modules that are compatible with this motherboard. Compared to competitors, RAM latencies are a bit lower, which results in better performances under default settings but also promises better overclock. On Phenom processors HTT link is possible to overclock at higher frequencies than 280MHz, which is very important for users that have cheaper and locked X4 and X3 variants of B3 revision Phenom, but still they would like to pass magic border at 3GHz. We managed to get stable overclock at 3.4GHz for our 8750BE, which is entire 1000MHz (1GHz) higher than default value. This is possible to achieve by changing the multiplier, but also through raising frequency of HTT link. System set in this manner achieves up to 40% better performances in real time conditions than at standard 2.4GHz. Precision Tweaker 2 is BIOS tool that provides option for setting voltage in 0.02V small increments, which is important for precise setup of voltages for achieving stable maximum performances, without overheating of components.

This motherboard supports Asus Express Gate that enables fast boot-up of Linux OS and booting up of programs like Firefox and Skype, without installed HDD. However, test sample of motherboard didn’t come with NAND flash module from which we could boot up the system. So, we did what we already done before with Asus M3N-HT Mempipe motherboard –internet applications were started through Express Gate without installed HDD.
M3A79-T Deluxe comes with new sound codec chip, ADI AD2000B that has, very respectable, 106dB signal/noise ratio, which should satisfy, in theory, the pickiest lovers of good sound. Still, if you want top sound quality, we advise you to choose some of more quality sound cards, for example some of the Creative models.
