Page 1 of 9 The first PlayStation console has appeared on the market in the middle of 90s: in Japan at the end of 1994, and in other countries a year later. It way colored in grey and represented revolutionary console which used CDs as the main media. This will be, together with good support in games, very important and later open the way of PlayStation to enormous highs. After first version, many updates and additions were released, such as Pocket Station and PSX, and a few years later appeared PSone, a smaller version of original console. Then PlayStation 2 followed, PlayStation Portable and finally the mighty PlayStation 3. Sony didn’t have many problems in achieving record sales of its consoles since both, PlayStation and PlayStation2, were sold in more than 100 million units each, making them the best selling consoles ever.
PlayStation 3 was introduced for the first time during E3 2005. Although only technical features were presented along with devkit, meaning that there were no functional version of the console presented, spectators could still make the impression of the future power of PS3. Still, the confirmation of this statement arrived a year later, at E3 2006, when Sony presented console and previously developed games for it. Upon launching in Northern America and Japan, PlayStation has appeared in Europe. We were not so lucky to get Sony Bravia HDTV display in the first midnight purchasing, as our colleagues in London were, but being able to finally put our hands on a PlayStation 3 was fun enough.
