Nokia has been using the Symbian OS on its best devices for years now. As time went by, Symbian kept improving as well, until the market was stormed by the new type of phones led by the iPhone. Nokia’s attempt to join the race began with the pretty much failed model 5800, which was based on Symbian OS s60v5. N97 followed and improved the overall impression significantly. When Google Android platform surfaced, the competition became much more serious all of a sudden, so Nokia had to opt for a completely new concept in the form of Maemo 5 OS, promoted by the model N900.

In November last year, a more affordable mobile phone with Android operating system finally appeared in many markets. After several high quality Android phones by HTC, Tattoo was quite a logical step which roughly says: "We have proved that the combination of our phone and Android operating system works well, and now all those whom it seemed nice and expensive may finally afford a phone like this. So here, this is a phone for you". The difference in price compared to several previous models such as HTC and HTC Hero Magic is pretty big, so it was very interesting to test this phone and compare it with older models.

HTC Hero touch screen Android smartphone has arrived in our test lab and first feature that we noticed was its unusual design. Samsung Jet was presented in Jun this year and now, it has arrived in our test lab. First detail that anyone will notice is its significantly lower price tag compared to similar models on the market. There is also very fast Qualcomm MSM6246 at 800MHz CPU that allows very comfortable user experience. Although Samsung marketed this smartphone as “smarter than smartphone”, we did notice few problems during test period.

When Apple iPhone was introduced few years ago it brought revolution to PDA market that other manufactures were not prepared for. Although we don’t find iPhone to be the best PDA that ever existed on the face of earth (no it really isn’t) numbers don’t lie and the fact is that iPhone is one of the best selling PDAs ever. Because of this other manufacturers couldn’t afford themselves to sit on their hands and do nothing about it, so making the iPhone “killer” quickly became favorite sport of many IT companies. As result of created market environment we got new LG KM900 Arena PDA in our test lab strait from LG’s assembly line.

Finally we got our hands on smartphone that created quite a stir on a PDA market. This is one of those devices that is very interesting in many ways and looks great at the same time. Samsung Omnia HD, or i8910 HD, is larger and heavier than most other smartphones, which isn’t a flaw in any way. Omnia HD is very compact and rugged device with metal frame that contains usual buttons (photo and video recording, volume rocker-control, lock button etc) and three usual buttons on the front side.
