Page 1 of 2 Very often short descriptions in manufacturer manuals for displays are: exceptional design and excellent performances which is the case with Samsung T220. If some monitor looks nice we can see that by ourselves when we take it out from the packaging, but when it comes to other manufacturer’s promise (about performances) we need to check them by ourselves for its authenticity. Samsung T220 satisfied the first half of its description from the moment we put it on the table.
Frame around monitor is on some parts completely transparent and on some is laid on dark base, almost infrared colored. Samsung T220 is made of very soft but quality plastic material and its very eye catchy and feels pleasant under the fingers. The color of monitor frame varies from subtle red to shiny black, depending of lighting conditions. Even though the sensual and visual attractions are combined together, Samsung constantly looks “smeary” and against that you can fight only with cloth that comes along with T220.
Power button, or its better to say power area, is touch-sensitive and it’s accented with discreet red light. That light can be turned off, but there is no actual need for that because of its diffusive nature that’s not disturbing neither by day or night.
We are not fans of OSD controls placed on right side of monitor because they are out of sight. But we must confess that Menu Bar is full with all kinds of very useful options, mainly related on fast and/or precise adjustments of contrast, brightness and color intensity. Image can be stretched or it can be displayed in original size, which is very helpful if you want to play older games without stretching of picture to width of wide resolution. But unfortunately, possibility for retaining 1:1 pixel ratio is missing. Three carefully chosen gamma levels will satisfy everyone who desires precise color display. RTA (Response Time Accelerator) can be turned off or it can work in one of two work regimes – mode 1 and mode 2. If you look at the manual, you can only get confused by description and bottom line is that the first mode is recommended for watching movies and second for watching images, Internet and similar. By manual, mode 1 enables rapid typing response in Word (we don’t get what’s the purpose of that) but situation starts to complicate in next sentence that says that if you don’t watch the movie than RTA should be turned off or you should leave monitor in mode 1, the same mode 1 that is predicted exactly for watching movies. Also, we didn’t notice any special difference between three offered options.
