ImageWe already write about monitor’s price drop, and why and how this price cuts didn’t have influence on prices of monitors that have 22 inch and bigger diagonals. Price drop is inevitable force of advancing technology, so now even 22 inch and 24 inch monitors are entering into low-budget category. We had on test Samsung 2433BW that is, if judged by specification, suited for users that want biggest possible monitor for their money.

With its design this model demonstrates its genetic link with T series of Samsung monitors . Without “infrared” effect of T series this model looks like just another black glossy display. Just when we prepared ourselves to raise a hue and cry against badly marked OSD controls that should be located along right vertical side, we noticed that Samsung started to use trick that mobile phone manufacturers already use for years. Button functions appear on the screen by themselves while OSD menu is active, so neck injures won’t be a problem anymore. Nevertheless we noticed problems with ergonomics on the other side. This monitor doesn’t have swivel option in its base and it is not that easy to assemble and place display on that same base,  and when you finally mount it, you will notice that monitor cannot be tilted toward user not even for one degree.

Color gradients are displayed without any fault. Contrast is also great even without “tricks” that improve dynamics. Breaching of back light is insignificantly low, but overall impression of colors is spoiled with black that is not black enough if screen is watched under slightly bigger viewing angle. Vertical viewing angles are very good, but horizontal is not that good as we mentioned. Speed of this panel is not for champions title but it is fast enough to allow you smooth display of “moving pictures” of any sort. Someone will even like the “honesty” of response time compared to overdrive variants that often can make undesirable side effects.

In ideal world Samsung 2433BW would be simply described as average 24 inch monitor. It looks decent, it’s not likely that you are going to need bigger screen any time soon, and it has reasonable price. In real world conditions all this should be enough for you to take this monitor into serious consideration for your next display because its quality and unified performances are actually more than average.
