Page 1 of 2 ASUS is, obviously, trying very hard to make monitors that are nicely designed but, since there is no disputing about tastes, we will let you to decide if you like the design of ASUS. Bottom line is that you should first take a look at this monitor with its "unusual" design and only then decide if you like it or not.
Dimensions, resolution and a lot of connectors determine this model as multimedia one. Besides HDMI there is also S/PDIF audio output, in case you don’t want to use integrated speakers but you need to use digital output. OSD menu has all essential options, including 4:3 setting for resolutions that are not in wide format. On the other hand lack of swivel ring in base is bigger ergonomic problem.
Display of colours and gradients is almost perfect. Gradients are displayed without big distortions, with excellent dynamics and contrast. There is no backlight breaching and display of black is good as it can be on a TN panel. Viewing angles can satisfy basic needs. Under certain angle around black letters on grey background can be noticed white shadow and this is very common combination. Our impressions were significantly improved after we tested response time. Seemingly without additional technologies for achieving faster response time that can produce problems, this monitor is "naturally" fast and very pleasant for a beholders eye.
