ImageMore about AOC brand you can get from their site, which will take to the manufacturers site: TPV Technology from China. Beside monitors that we got in our test lab, we saw on both sites very interesting and nicely designed displays. Also we stumbled upon info that TPV is “leading display solution provider” which is the fact that isn’t that easy to confirm. Nevertheless it looks like monitors that we got on test are made before this manufacturer employed a real designer. But let’s not judge the book by its covers, because these models have very attractive price tags.

AOC 2216Sw

Smaller of two monitors that we got has 22 inch diagonal and it looks like it was teleported from late nineties. Combination of black and dark grey surfaces is so “out” these days. Nevertheless we must point out that manufacturer used quality materials with good final finish which came as surprise because of first impression that we got. Base of the monitor has a dent on the top side for trinkets and small change but this very useful detail cannot fade the fact that there is no swivel ring in the base. OSD menu is one of the richest that we saw so far when it comes to options but most of them are for setting colors in  numerous ways and there is no option for setting non-wide image scaling.

When we stated to test this display we realized that all those options for color settings are completely waste of time. Color gradients have few imperfections but they are not too dominant and average user won’t notice them in every day work. If you want to remind yourself on monitors that were made 4-5 years ago, then take a look at AOC 2216Sw. Back light breaching is minimal and barely noticeable along upper edge of panel. Viewing angles are good but you should test vertical viewing angle for yourself just in case. Panel is fast enough for most applications but it is not a “speed daemon”.
