Very Successful Design

On supplied disc one of most useful software applications is Olympus Master 2, software for classifying photos. Program is very fast, except in case of working with RAW format when it takes almost nine seconds for copying image on HDD. Graphics interface is simple and easy to use. The good news is that this software is not necessary for transferring images on computer, because all operating systems including Linux recognize this camera without any problems and enable approach to images on card. One of advantages that Olympus Studio software brings is possibility of controlling camera through USB connection and work with RAW format. This is one of the ways of changing settings but you won’t get Live View on camera display while using Olympus Studio.

Olympus E-520 is very nice designed, from ergonomic point of view. Camera will fit perfectly in hands, especially in hands that are not accustomed on pro models. E-520 gives impression of safe holding and you won’t feel at any time that it will fall from your hand even when very heavy lenses are attached. Rubber holder for right hand contributes a lot to previous state.

Camera has more or less standard disposition of buttons and control rings with a possibility of optical adjustments of viewfinder for owners with diopter. Weight of camera without lens is 475 grams while dimensions are 13.7x9.14x6.8cm.

For a Very “Serious” Amateur

Camera uses “four thirds” standard for lenses, and there is wide range of those lenses on the market. Lens mounting is very easy; when lens sits on bearing you must fix it with right half turn. Lens demounting is just as simple as mounting, you need to make a turn but in opposite direction, but you need to press the button previously (button is easy to notice).

Very significant innovation is improved version of picture stabilization system. It works on principle of compensation small hand moves with balancing of CCD sensor. The system is built in camera body and photograph will have a lot of benefits regardless on used lens.
We must mention SuperSonic Wave Filter, system for removing dust from CCD sensor. Small particles of dust can easily enter into body of digital cameras with exchangeable lenses (while you change lenses and sometimes you will need to do that in outdoors). As always, all dust that enters in camera will eventually finish on CCD sensor and that dust can ruin your best photos. To eliminate this, Olympus solved the problem by “shaking” of sensor every time you turn on the camera.
