Page 1 of 4 Nikon D80 is the first DSLR from this Japanese company that we had opportunity to test. Based on D70 model, model “eighty” used to engage big efforts to acquit what faithful users of this company expected. Regarding cost, these cameras are mostly used within some semi-professional purposes, and we shouldn’t have forgotten either those people who invested a lot in Nikon lenses. Just because of that, we gave our efforts to test the camera with better lenses and because several other reasons. Instructed with our experience related to Sony Alfa, we wanted to see D80 in its best, and f2.8 ED wide zoom with Silent Wave engine is qualified into sole high end of Nikon offer. There were also classical 50mm 1.4D that we used for picture quality tests, while wide zoom with ultra-sound engine used to be the reference for speed of auto focus.
