Toshiba Satellite L300-11G

Beside Satellite A300 and P300 notebook series, Toshiba also released on market redesigned Satellite L series. We will introduce you with all novelties through testing of model Toshiba Satellite L300-11G. L series didn’t experience that much cosmetic changes like new A and P series did. We could even say that Satellite L300 is less “fancy” than its predecessor. Some of us will count that as big plus because L300 has above all “neutral” design. ...

ATi Radeon HD 4870 X2

Launch of nVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 280 brought a huge enthusiasm in last two months, but it already begun to fade. The main “culprit” is ATi which showed to all of us that even when hard times come they are continuing with good work as if competition isn't a problem and as confirmation of their efforts we got incredible new generation of graphics cards. The whole story started with great Radeon HD 4850 and continued with HD 4870 that had GDDR5 memory. After great critics for these two GPUs, ATi was aware that they shouldn’t stop there, if they want to overthrown nVIDIA from the top performance throne. And they did it… ...

Level One WBR-3460, WBR-3408 & WAP-0006

This time we introduce to you three devices from Level 1, which cover different target user groups: WBR-3460A, WBR-3408 and WAP-0006. WBR-3460 is ADSL/ADSL2+ router, WBR-3408 is Wireless AP Broadband router and WAP-0006 is Wireless LAN. So, something for everyone. Let's see...   ...

ASUS Crosshair II Formula

Engineers from ASUS took into account every little detail while designing Crosshair II Formula motherboard and by taking a closer look at layout it is obvious that they didn’t economize with components integrated into this motherboard. This had big impact on final price tag for this motherboard but all this doesn’t guarantee that configuration based on this motherboard will work flawlessly and be able to satisfy needs of every overclocker out there. ...

Biostar A740G M2+

Biostar introduced “office version” of motherboard based on “office” AMD RS740 chipset. Graphics core is based on RV410, identical graphics core as for AMD RD690 chipset. DX10 is not supported, which isn’t a big problem because there isn’t any integrated graphics that can run DX10 games with decent framerate yet.     ...

Xilence VGA coolers PDF Print

Summer is ongoing, hot days are not good for your pet, so you prepared your processor, but cooler on graphics card is experience gradual fan failure. Irritating buzzing begins, and temperature of graphics card is increasing every day. It starts to annoy you, because only opening on the lateral side of the casing helps, yet buzzing gets even worse. You lubricate it, but it is not permanent solution, and noise comes back after few days even more determined to drive you insane. Stubborn buzzing can be solved after all, and the answer lies in Batman. Sounds ridiculous? Well, Xilence made a cooler and named it Bat.

Not to be fully in vain, piece of plastic with well-known sign is put on good copper cooling system with small fan. Although its full name is not Batman, goal is clearly indicative. It brought good position to this simple VGA cooler. It is simple because of the fact that it does not use heatpipe technology or anything similar. It is completely made of copper, and with excellent polished base, cooler represents a good solution. Performances are in accordance its status, and there is no noise at all. Credit for this goes to "Hydro" bearing, and in spite of 2200 rotation per minute, the fan will stay unnoticeable.

Unfortunately, this cooler is designed for older graphic card. More exactly, those are models two generation in the past. It means it will not follow you in the future, if you choose to replace a card. It is not much of a problem, given Batman is primarily designed as replacement of an old cooler, and not for promotion of cooling performances. Still, when used with older cards, it is fair to say that it has better performances than most of the standard coolers. Fitting models are in range from GeForce 3 to series 6, in terms of NVIDIA graphics cards. Regarding ATI, VGA coolers fit on Radeon 9000 to X series (X300, X600, etc.).

Of course, the most advanced and creative users will be able to mount it on newer cards. Second model of Xilence is visibly more advanced. Beside design which includes two heatpipes, it can be seen at first sight that this cooler keeps step with the time. V60 is entirely made of aluminum, and the idea for cooler is to conduct heat to other part of the entity, away from GPU and to cool off there. This system makes this cooler more advantageous, because in this moment it is leading idea with the manufacturers of newer coolers. Heat conducts through heatpipes from the base to the part with larger number of aluminum grids. It is then processed in fan you mount on them. One recommendation for potential buyers – think about adding another fan on larger area above GPU. It will significantly affect cooling, and the fan will be quiet.

With this cooler you will get eight heat sinks for memory chips, whereof four are quite large, while other four are small, and in terms of design, identical to the ones coming with Zalman´s models. Withal, Xilence made good coolers, with remainder of the fact that they are present on the world’s market for longer period of time, yet they now come to us, at the beginning of an end of their career.
