Page 1 of 4 One by one CPU cooler manufacturers have adopted new concept of
building heat-pipe coolers: heat-pipes are in direct contact with CPU
heat spreader. This solution has proved to be very efficient, or at
least more efficient than traditional heat-pipe coolers. Cooler Master,
as one of the leading companies on cooling solution market, has also
adopted this new trend and as result of their efforts we can present
you two new models from Hyper series: TX3 and 212 Plus.
Hyper TX3
If you take a look at pictures of this cooler you will most certainly have a déjà-vu, which isn’t that strange since we have reviewed very similar cooler few month ago. Body of this cooler consists of 42 aluminum fins that are connected to three 6mm heat pipes. As we already mentioned heat pipes are in direct contact with CPU heat spreader. Cooler base doesn’t have mirror finish, but it is very flat so this shouldn’t be a problem. Cooler Master Hyper TX3 can be mounted on almost all sockets, including LGA1156 which will have identical mounting mechanism as LGA 1366. You don’t have to take motherboard out of the chassis just to mount this cooler since it uses mounting mechanism similar to one used on (default) box coolers. This applies for both Intel and AMD sockets. Procedure for mounting this cooler is very simple and if you follow simple manual it can be done in few minutes. Fan that comes with cooler has 92mm in diameter and 7 fins that are designed to provide maximum air flow. Because of this fact, fan is almost silent on minimum RPM while at maximum RPM is little bit noisier but not too much. Since this cooler provides best performance levels at maximum fan RPM, if you can live with little bit noisier cooler, you won’t be disappointed with this cooler. Interesting details are wire mounting brackets for fan that have rubber protection for minimizing rattling noise that can be generated by this mechanism. Beside these there are also present rubber “bumpers” on all 4 corners of the fan so noise won’t be generated by fan either.
Fan can be connected to motherboard with 4-pin connector which is nice since this allows automatic control of fan RPM depending on CPU temperature. Cooler Master also provided additional mounting wire brackets for another fan so, if it’s needed, another fan can be added to create push-pull air flow effect. This can be very interesting solution for more serious overclockers.
