karim_rashid_intro2.jpgImageThe most basic question we have in mind before testing any new notebook is the expected performance. However, in the case of ASUS Eee PC 1008P Seashell Karim Rashid Collection netbook, the question was entirely different - could it really be as beautiful as we thought it was when we glanced at the pictures? Only a few seconds after the netbook had been unwrapped sufficed for most to agree that they were looking at the best looking netbook ever.

Radeons HD 5770: A Hawk Versus Arctic Ice PDF Print

MSI_R5770_Hawk_PCS_intro2.jpgImageThe Radeon HD 5770 is currently praised as a very good choice in the upper middle class of GPUs, since it provides very good performance in resolutions typical for 20” and 22” monitors at a decent price, which is likely to become the optimal choice for gamers today. We rejoiced to see so many manufacturers coming out with their own models so fast, shunning the referent ATI design in order to create a bit pricier, but faster graphics card to start with, a gain which can be increased even further by overclocking, courtesy of high-quality cooling systems implemented by various manufacturers. We’ve received two very interesting models whose overclock range took us by surprise, both cards sporting great looks and an attractive accompanying bundle.

DDR3_intro2.jpgImageDDR3 memory has definitely been developing into a mainstream standard in the past few months, as witnessed by the constant price drop and nearing the prices of DDR2. Having in mind that Intel has already presented its P55 platform to the market, it’s hardly surprising that faster and better memory kits for it appear all the time. Unlike the X58 platform, P55 was designed for dual-channel memory access, which “revived” dual-channel memory kits for Intel platforms.

h55h57_roundup_intro2.jpgImageIntel’s chip wave that appeared as suite for the new Core i3 and i5 CPUs codenamed Clarkdale, containing graphics cores within, was quickly followed by a plethora of motherboards from all sorts of manufacturers. We’ve decided to gather round all motherboards available at the market at the time of this review and determine whether it is wiser to base the decision about which motherboard to buy on the chip itself or the accompanying equipment and capabilities. We’ve had a total of seven models tested, signed by ASUS, Biostar, Gigabyte and MSI, which are the most common choice of buyers.

Silverstone_80Plus_PSU_intro2.jpgImageSilverstone has presented the market with the Strider Plus series. Compared to the previous series, without the “Plus” in the name, the differences are numerous, the biggest one being that the Strider Plus only has one +12V rail, whereas the predecessor had multiple. Important differences don’t end there, because the new series PSUs also sport a 13.5 cm fan, which should, owing to its larger diameter, keep the PSU cool and stable at a lower RPM rate, thus reducing the overall noise emission. The new series also has improved power efficiency, all of them proudly wearing the 80 Plus Silver certificate. We received all three representatives of the new product family, declared at 750, 850 and 1000 W.

asus_g73j_intro2.jpgImageLet’s say it straight out - Asus G73J is a notebook with the fastest graphics card in the world, full stop. If you want to play games on your notebook, and don’t have financial issues, look no further. Truth be told, there are notebooks with two graphics cards, which are faster, but don’t have DirectX 11 support, which leaves Asus G73J with the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870 graphics card as your weapon of choice.
