Autodesk has announced this year's refresh of its software offer which includes a new version of the popular modeling, animation, rendering and compositing application known as 3ds Max, formerly 3D Studio MAX.
As stated by its maker, 3ds Max 2011 comes with the additions such as Slate, a new node-based material editor, Quicksilver hardware renderer, a new multithreaded rendering engine that uses both the central processing unit (CPU) and the graphics processing unit (GPU), and 3ds Max Composite, a full-featured, high dynamic range (HDR)–capable compositor. 3ds Max 2011 is planned for an April release and is set to cost $3,495 in full or $1,745 for the upgrade.
