MSI Wind U100

Category of small cheap notebooks became very popular and there is no wonder why most of big brands want a piece of cake for themselves. But Asus got all of them off-guard. Because of that we’ve been waiting rather long for Eee’s true rival . We’ve already mentioned MSI’s agility which allowed them again to be first with new product on market. Their trump card wears name Wind and model that InsideHW had tested is MSI Wind U100. ...

Puma Platform for Notebooks

The long waited AMD platform for notebooks under the name PUMA is finally introduced and InsideHW had a chance to test notebook based on this platform. To all users that have been waiting cheap integrated graphics with good performances, time has come. Intel Centrino was so far “untouchable” in field of portable computers but AMD Puma, by all appearance, got a necessary quality to fight for highest position. ...

Prestigio Data Safe II Fashion Edition

USB hard disks lately become very popular. This especially goes for 2.5’’models. The reasons for that can be found in their usefulness and practicality. Yet, we are living in times when it is necessary to transfer huge amounts of data from place to place. At first, manufacturers on market fought with larger and larger capacity of these devices. Lately, when capacity stopped being key factor, manufacturers turned to HDD case design. On that field, Prestigio went step ahead of its competitors and launched Prestigio data Safe II Fashion Edition. ...

ATI 48xx Architecture

At the end of June, in Spain, we were introduced to a new series of 48xx graphics cards from ATI. We saw then only RV770PRO (4850) but at this moment 4870 (RV770XT) is also available. Even though our sources from AMD didn’t unveil why 4870 wasn’t shown on launching, we assume that some problems with quantities of available GDDR5 memory occurred. Considering that 4850 uses GDDR3 memory, it is no surprise that many retailers had them on stock. ATI 4870 will be sold, in beginning, exclusively with GDDR5 memory (this is the first graphics card that uses this memory) but AMD leaves a possibility that some innovative partner might launch later version that uses GDDR3 memory. ...

Sapphire HD 4850

It’s rare occasion to have on test, on the same month, new generation products from two big rivals (nVIDIA and ATI). This is really good news because ATI had some serious delays with R600 and that is one of reasons why it was so indifferently received on market. ATI realized that now must roll up its sleeves to catch up nVIDIA, because at that point seemed that nVIDIA unreachably moved away. ...

Friday, 30 May 2008
ImageKingston Technology was ranked No. 1 by iSuppli in the world in the dynamic random access memory (DRAM) module supplier market for 2007, based on revenues. According to a recent report from the independent research company, Kingston Technology had over $2.2 billion (U.S.) in sales, representing over 27 percent of the total global DRAM market.

Kingston’s DRAM module products include branded or system-specific memory; ValueRAM memory built to JEDEC specs and designed for system integrators and white box builders; and HyperX memory for gamers and PC enthusiasts who demand higher performance and speed. Founded in 1987 with a single offering, Kingston Technology now makes and sells over 2,000 memory products.

The iSuppli report only covered DRAM module revenues and did not include OEM contract manufacturing or Flash memory sales. In March, Kingston Technology announced that its 2007 global revenues soared to $4.5 billion, the highest in company history.

Intel: Energy Efficient Computing & Environment PDF Print

ImageIntel's passion for innovation is applied not only to developing new technologies, but also to managing complex global environmental issues. Energy efficiency and resource conservation are at the forefront of what needs to be done to address today’s climate challenges.

Energy efficiency has become a key design priority as we seek to deliver cutting edge processors and computing platforms. The recent transition from single-core to multi-core technology has permanently altered the course of computing as we know it, enabling powerful energy-efficient performance on all Intel's platforms.

Moving from 65nm to 45nm technology has not only enabled a smaller die size, but has also enabled more transistors to be deployed.  This allows greater performance and at the same time a 30% reduction in transistor switching power. Intel also moved away from lead and halogen - two materials that have been used by the entire electronics industry for decades but have recently raised concerns around the impact they're having on our environment.

ASUS Official Statement PDF Print

ImageWe have received an official writen statement from Asus, and we are reporting it entirely...

"It has come to our attention that a certain Taiwanese Motherboard Manufacturer has made false claims against ASUS motherboards. These claims have given rise to false information being communicated in both the mainstream media and technology channels. ASUS wishes to clarify the issues and so avoid any further confusion.

After investigation, it is clear that this company in question made use of a sponsored gathering of local and international media to deliberately spread information that we consider both untrue and without credible verification. This “disinformation” is not only extremely damaging to ASUS but also completely misleading to the consumers.

ASUS reserves the right to take legal action against any individual, organization or corporation which creates or spreads such rumors."
