PEAKHARDWARE INTL CO., LTD (PEAK) today announces its latest product category, Solid State Disk (SSD), which will be listed under Flash Memory. The new PEAK SSDs will be available in standard 1.8-inch and 2.5-inch sizes with a choice of SATA and PATA (IDE) interfaces, storage capacities up to 128GB and two speed options of Xtreme and Standard. Users can also choose between the MLC chipset and the higher-performance SLC chipset.
"As NAND flash has moved into commercial mobile computing applications, such as EeePC, netbook, and smart phones, PEAK has introduced this new product category to pave the way for replacing hard disk drives with NAND flash-based SSDs," said Albert Tung, PEAK's Product Manager. "SSDs are much more secure against the external shocks that can occur when transporting a mobile device. The SSD can withstand about twice the impact that would cripple a conventional hard disk drive (HDD). In addition, it takes less than half the time to store or retrieve data on an SSD than on a traditional HDD; for example, the Microsoft Windows XP operating system will boot up 25-50% faster on the SSD than on other drives. And its features of lower power consumption, light weight and high stability without moving parts make the SSD an ideal solution for professionals and executives who are constantly on the move."
PEAK expects applications for SSDs to expand from current mobile computing applications to mobile and digital consumer appliances, as NAND Flash becomes more widely recognized as a reliable, high-density data storage medium for the widest range of consumer demands.
To satisfy the requirements of most of today's HDD devices, PEAK has developed a full line-up of SSDs with a wide choice of specifications, such as interface, size, transfer speed and chipset for durability.
