At the end of June, in Spain, we were introduced to a new series of 48xx graphics cards from ATI. We saw then only RV770PRO (4850) but at this moment 4870 (RV770XT) is also available. Even though our sources from AMD didn’t unveil why 4870 wasn’t shown on launching, we assume that some problems with quantities of available GDDR5 memory occurred. Considering that 4850 uses GDDR3 memory, it is no surprise that many retailers had them on stock. ATI 4870 will be sold, in beginning, exclusively with GDDR5 memory (this is the first graphics card that uses this memory) but AMD leaves a possibility that some innovative partner might launch later version that uses GDDR3 memory.

It’s rare occasion to have on test, on the same month, new generation products from two big rivals (nVIDIA and ATI). This is really good news because ATI had some serious delays with R600 and that is one of reasons why it was so indifferently received on market. ATI realized that now must roll up its sleeves to catch up nVIDIA, because at that point seemed that nVIDIA unreachably moved away.

Few years ago, Valve was criticized for ATI Half - Life 2 bundle fiasco and many buyers felt they were tricked by Valve due to delays of release date for Half - Life 2. However, Valve and ATI kept tight relations, and it seems that Valve finally decided to put some smiles back on faces of ATI card owners.
Nzone have posted two new DX9 vs DX10 Crysis comparisons using old footage (or at least old 'scenes') from E3, 2006. The only real advantage is that the DX9 and DX10 footage is in the same video so the difference is made a little easier to see, plus there's a slightly extended jungle scene. The first video shows us the hunter on the carrier in both DX9 and DX10 while the second videos shows us the jungle in both DX9 and DX10. These videos are also available at gametrailers.com, but as some of you may know, GameTrailers always compress the hell out of the videos they host. 
During the Worldwide Invitational in Seoul, Blizzard finally unveiled the sequel to StarCraft, called StarCraft II. New game features well known races from original, while using brand new 3D engine. Thankfully, Blizzard decided to keep StarCraft as classic RTS.
