WANT TO OC MY ASUS STRIKER 2 NSE 1 Year, 9 Months ago Karma: 0
Hello Everyone,

I'm trying to oc my system.
My specs are:

intel duo core E8500 3,16ghz
asus striker 2 nse
4 gb 1600 mhz ddr3
2x asus eah3850x2 in crossfx

this al in an enermaxx chakra case.

Now to the problem.

My cpu runs at 3,8 ghz stabiel for 8 hours. My fsb just won't go beyond 400mhz. So my cpu won't get past 3,8ghz because my 9.5 multiplyer. i've got a extreme bios the 1104. But still won't go any further. Is it possibel that my mobo is secured and i just have to enable or disable a function in my bios? And what do i have to change?

I cant wait to here an solution. ( please forgive my incorrect english0

Greetings Kevin

Can you change multiplier with new BIOS?

Hello X,

The thing is that i want to raise my fsb above 400mhz. that doesn't work but it is possibel. My multiplyer is max 9.5 and i thaugt that that is limited by my cpu?

Hi Kevin,

I already answered that but it looks like that servers still has some glitches.
You have a very nice OC for that processor on Air cooling without voltage increase. If you do not want to go for watercooling system, I recommend some good cooler like CoolerMaster Gemini II with added fan, and close monitoring of temperature while doing burn test with Prime for example.
Your processor has a locked mulitiplayer for higher settings but you can decrease it 0.5 steps, which can be good way to see if you are unlucky one to have FSB wall at 400 MHZ. Good thing is to set multiplayer to 8.0x and increase FSB to 430 Mhz, if it works, than your processor have Higher FSB wall, and you can overclock it higher, increasing voltage on the processor. (Watch out for the working temperatures) If that doesn't work, beside FSB wall there can be two problems.
- Memory can't work on so high frequency which can be solved with on two ways, buy increasing DRAM voltage (by little) or putting it to work in async mode, lowering starting memory BUS.
- Second problem could be Northbridge. Again you can try to rise Northbridge voltage to higher values, and check if it is overheating, put better cooling on it.

Looking on your configuration, I presume that you want to OC higher because of challenge, because in every game beside Crysis you will have more than a playable FPS regardless of resolution.

Best of luck!

Hello Hideo,

Thanks for you'r reaction.

The cooler is on his way. I Already ordered the gemini 2 with an optional 120mm fan. I already tried an lower multiplyer with hyer fsb. Didn't work and i have my mem unlinked at 1600 mhz because at start i had my fsb at 1333mhz.

And you'r wright about the challange. But because it is my first time i don't know exactly what to do.

So i'm very thankfull for al the reactions and advice i get.

Greetings Kevin
