If you want to dual-core CPU right now, I&#039;d go with Intel&#039;s Core 2 Duo series. Otherwise, you might want to wait on AMD Phenom series, just in order to catch offer with best performance / price ratio.

For me amd is the best.. Mine is AMD Turion dual core and i have no problem with it.

Seriously there are tons of threads discussing this but I'll summarize them for you. An AMD x2 is as fast as a core 2 duo at 75% of its speed. e.g. an AMD x2 2ghz, would be roughly equal to a 1.5ghz core 2 duo. So at the same speed a c2d would be much faster. The INTEL chips also have less power consumption.
