Home - News - InsideHW - IFA 2010: Philips Cinema 21:9 Platinum Series TV
ImagePhilips showed up at IFA carrying big guns. Tons of new and improved products are here, and they eve didn’t have enough time at keynote to tell everything about them. One thing that caught our eye is Cinema 21:9 Platinum Series TV, the world’s first cinema proportion 3D TV. Of course, 3D is apsolute center of this year’s events and everyone is talking about next gen 3D TVs and displays. Philips pushed things a bit further then the others, and streched the picture to the cinema proportions – 21:9, so that you can sit back and relax in fornt of yours 57“ TV, and watch the 3D content with no black lines up or down on screen. As expected, everything they have is inside, including Direct-lit LED, Ambilight, 400Hz, 2560×1080 resolution, Multi-view, Net TV and Perfect Pixel HD Engine picture processing. And we must admit, it looks like nothing else. There is a price to match the feeling – around 4,000 €.

And just when we were about to leave, we saw the best glasses-free TV so far. Although it's still a prototype and we can expect an improved version in a few years, this display done in cooperation with Dimenco is something that looks very promising. Of course, the angles are not perfect, and the technology needs some tuning, but when you think that you don’t need glases to enjoy in 3D, and it actually gives you the 3D effect – it sounds great, and belive us – it looks even better.
