Adapted from technology that GE researchers originally developed for commercial jet engines, GE has announced a major technology breakthrough, called DCJ, which adapts this technology for the cooling of consumer electronics.
GE’s DCJ (Dual Piezoelectric Cooling Jets), behave as a micro-fluidic bellows that provide high-velocity jets of air to cool electronic components. The turbulent air flow of the DCJ increases the heat transfer rate to more than ten times that of natural convection.

Hard disk manufacturer Western Digital has plans to launch drives with a 5 TB capacity by late 2013, Hardware.info reports. The manufacturer also aims to expand its Red and Green series with a 4 TB model. Slides published by the Russian 'Always More Digital' and PC Games Hardware show that the development of the respective series is virtually simultaneous. Unfortunately, the slides don't reveal what we are to expect in the high-performance Black series, the 'regular' Blue and 2.5-inch Scorpio line of drives. In the Black series, a 4 TB model is already available, which makes it possible that Western Digital will debut a 5 TB drive in this line sooner.
