Palit Microsystems and Gainward, companies most known for their graphics cards, have decided to enter motherboards market. Despite the fact that margins in this market aren't high and that most of smaller motherboard markers had to withdraw from this market due to aggressive pricing by leader motherboard suppliers, Palit and Gainward are hoping to offer price-competitive products in order to increase revenue.Currently, Palit has three motherboards for Intel Socket 775 processors (based on Intel P35 chipset) and two motherboards for AMD's AM2 processors (based on Nvidia nForce chipsets). Gainward's first motherboard was spotted by our colleagues from OCWorkBench - P35 based motherboard that doesn't seem to be aimed at enthusiast market so it is very difficult to believe that Gainward, known for top-class products, would be successful in selling mainstream motherboards.
