ImageDigiTimes reports that Intel has decided to continue the production of Pentium E2140 processors despite the fact that E2180 is expected on August 26 with a price of 84USD. Analysts believed Intel would phase out the Pentium E2140 after dropping the price of the E2160 from 84 to 74USD, but Intel decided to lower the price of the E2140 to 64USD in order to compete with AMD's Athlon 64 X2 3800+ and 3600 in emerging markets. In related news, AMD's executives denied reports of another price cut for their processors coming anytime soon.
