According to Nick Reynolds, Executive Director of WW Consumer Marketingat Lenovo, this was very intentional. Their thinking is that PC business is not shrinking but evolving and changing form. Recognizing that mobile devices are on the rise, they get in the race earlyand right now only Samsung is selling more phones than Lenovoin China. They are confident to take first place ASAP, and to continue to push on other markets. Asus Maximus VI: David and Goliath…

Like we’ve already said, there are a large number of different ROG motherboards and it can be said that ASUS does great coverage of the market that wants this type of products. Whatever kind of motherboard you may want, ASUS will have it, and best examples of that are two products from the ROG line, which aside from the color scheme and premium quality, don’t have any other similarities. While Impact is a mini-ITX board, Formula is an armored colossus, armed to the teeth.

IFA 2013: NVIDIA, of the IFA grounds

dsc 1601-200NVIDA press meetings were held in a hotel near fair grounds, not on IFA itself, but with a good reason. Most of the stuff they presented was not intended for general public, so it was a good idea to have a more secluded presentation suite.

We were among first to check prototype of next year’s top NVIDA offering for mobile space – Logan. As you can see from picture, it was an early engineer sample where nothing is finalized, but never the less, it worked quite well. Demo we witnessed showed some impressive effects and complexity of the scene rendered in Full HD and 30 FPS. Focus was on Tessellation and big impact on performance when engine didn’t use hardware acceleration when FPS dropped to 10 FPS. As stated, power consumption will be between 2 and 3 Watts, but bear in mind, it will go higher if pushed hard. NVIDA guys stated that Logan will be on time, with devices using it available on market in H1 next year. To achieve this date, they needed to “cut a lot of things”, but we couldn’t convince them to tell us specifics.
