cebitThe general feeling about this years CeBIT is that there are less people visiting, and that the number of exhibitors is rapidly declining. As oppose to that, OCZ stand was quite crowded. The main reason lies in the fact that they have lots of new and interesting things to show. After many variety of SSD controllers, with joined forces OCZ and Marvell developed their own platform named Kilimanjaro focused on enterprise users.

 kilimanjaro

The platform is scalable, so we will see models in PCI Express, 2,5’’ and mini PCI Express form factors, with performance like 2,5 million IOPS and 7GB/s. Also aeonDrive DRAM SSD is one of the new enterprise oriented products that can be stacked one on top of each other, therefore expanding the size of the drive (up to 64GB).

revodrive hybrid lightfoot

Hybrid version of RevoDrive is here too, and it features SSD and HDD in one with DataPlex caching software. As for the Mac users, Lightfoot features SSD in metal Mac-like casing with Thunderbolt interface for best performance.

octane s2 petrol

After Octane, we have next gen model - Octane 2, and also Petrol, which is oriented toward lower segments of the market. The price is lower, as are the performance, but it is all in the spirit of bringing SSD’s to the customers that are not able to afford high performance models. As Octane, and Octane 2, Petrol is fuelled by IndiLinx controller, instead of omnipopular Sandforce. Of course, mSATA is getting more and more popular as new ultrabook and netbook models emerge, so OCZ got its series of SandForce driven miniature models for these kind of computers, called Nocti.

vertex4 nocti

Soon we will also be able to buy a next gen model from the Vertex family – Vertex 4. The specs say that it will have Everest 2 controller platform, MLC/SLC  to choose from, and it can crank up to 550MB/s with 90K IOPS and up to 2TB in space. Z-Drives which covers the enterprise segment has new members that can be equipped with 16 TB of space, 16 controllers, and can also provide a great performance.

fatal1ty silencer

The PSU part of OCZ business is becoming more and more interesting. After presenting the new Fatal1ty line, they have re-introduced PC Power and Cooling brand, and it came with a Silencer MKIII model with 1200W and 600W modular models. As expected, they all have 80+ certificates, the 1200W is platinum certificated, whilst 600W Silencer has bronze badge.
