 USB hard disks lately become very popular. This especially goes for 2.5’’models. The reasons for that can be found in their usefulness and practicality. Yet, we are living in times when it is necessary to transfer huge amounts of data from place to place. At first, manufacturers on market fought with larger and larger capacity of these devices. Lately, when capacity stopped being key factor, manufacturers turned to HDD case design. On that field, Prestigio went step ahead of its competitors and launched Prestigio data Safe II Fashion Edition.

| Still, this is a product attended for ladies and it should be treated that way. So, we asked our female colleagues what they actually think about Prestigio Data Safe II HDD. All girls just shouted at same time:”It is fancy!” Gold and white match, leopard’s pattern is “IN” and it is elegant (yet some of you won’t fancy it at all – there’s no accounting for taste). “Maybe HDD is a little bit heavy” (200grams), complained just one of them. “Purse with leather handle is phenomenal! We can wear it on Saturday night just for carrying some small stuff, while the other purse would be solely for HDD itself”. One of female colleagues (considerate one) just had a comment “It would be nice if Prestigio did pack together with HDD a pencil or a pen with same pattern. Then the package will be complete”. They also noticed that HDD will probably “get dirty” very soon and that we should clean it regular with moist “magic cloth”. Hmm … Maybe we should to listen to them. |
Probably you noticed in title word Fashion. And it is fashion detail even more then piece of hardware worth mentioning its performances. But Prestigio didn’t disappoint us in any field. In a nice designed and leather coated case is placed Toshiba MK1246GSX HDD with SATA interface. Rotation speed of HDD plates is 5400 rot/min and it has 8MB cache memory. Capacity is 120GB, which is more than enough for any kind of data transactions. HDD itself is limited with USB connection and results are similar to results for HDDs of this type. We especially liked on/off button on HDD, which will appreciate all users that will need to turn off HDD without disconnecting it from USB port. Copy key serves for fast full backup on some other HDD. Device has green and red LED. Green LED tells us if device works or not while red is active only during data transfers.
In package (which is also great designed) are two leather purses. One is little bigger from HDD’s dimensions and interior is also in leopard skin pattern. As a leopard is furry (it is a cat after all) so is interior of this purse, becoming a perfect for storing “leather HDD” without any scratch. There is also leather strip for carrying this purse around wrist. The other leather purse has beside place for HDD also a place for a pen, which is very practical detail. You will get two USB cables and one of them is long 20cm and is USB to miniUSB type while the other one is long around 50cm and has two standard USB connectors on one side. Longer cable achieves 20% faster performances (one USB is used for data transfers and the other provides power). Shorter one is more suitable for carrying (in one of mentioned purses) and leaves a place for standard pen.
