Like its name gives us a hint, this keyboard is really a blade, and not only in one sense of the word. It is only 11mm thin, its shape is narrowing on the end, and according to its visual identity it is a genuine blade of Logitech offer. Additional contribution to this impression is once you put it on the charger it is able to stand in vertical position.
The visual impression is impressive at first sight, and quality of manufacturing leaves us with contempt. Combination of laser-cut Plexiglas and aluminum takes our breath away. Unfortunately, there are two problems coming along in this keyboard ˝package˝. Due to extremely glowing and smooth final layer, Plexiglas is a magnet for fingerprints. It is true that you get a cleaning mop, but it is not able to solve all problems and to tell you the truth, you would have to use it all the time. The other problem is aluminum lean for hands, which is quite cold given it is made of metal. Although aluminum is rather popular due to its properties of heating conduction, we think some isolator like plastic would be more appropriate in this case. Another victim has fallen in battle for design: numerical keyboard has been eliminated.
Visual impression is improved by pushing Fn button, which turns on orange marks with background illumination, which were invisible on previous models. On the right hand side of a keyboard dominates sensor slider designed for sound volume regulation, which by the way does an excellent job. Another novelty is rounded touchpad which is being excellent in performing its job once you need to move a mouse and you do not want to lift your hand from a keyboard. Here are zones for left-right and up-down scrolling, excellently made and more precise than it is the case with most of notebooks. Keyboard has excellent weight ratio, it not grotesque on the table, not it causes discomfort once you keep it in your lap.
Buttons made special impression on us, since they are giving us, simply said, fantastic sense. It seems that Logitech´s story about PerfectStroke technology is not simple PR dust-in-the-eyes after all, but it is reality, since they have manage to make phenomenal feeling for pushed button. Good news is that keyboard is connected to a computer by using Bluetooth protocol (2.0+EDR-Enhanced Data Rate). We have adapter in set, and in case you have integrated Bluetooth emitter on notebook / computer you will have no difficulties to achieve full functionality operation. Integrated chargeable battery with excellent capacity is located within keyboard and in accordance with Logitech claims in can last up to 6 months between two charges. The manufacturer has so far proven that he is telling the truth, and given we did not have half year to test this, we are ready to take his word.
At the end, here is the question in what extend is this keyboard actually "The world's most advanced keyboard" – as Logitech claims. Although it has many excellent properties, looking at it as integrity gives the impression that it is simply not. As product with such high price it would have to have simply everything perfect, but we have a lack of key component here. Average buyer of this product has €1000 in his pocket; when he sees this keyboard he says “WOW”; when he hears the price he says “great”, given that he has another way to impress its surrounding and he can be sure than not many people in his surrounding would be able to have the same product. Unfortunately, this very same buyer is not able to foresee his days spent in polishing this keyboard; therefore, it is a matter of time before it will end up in some corner. Logitech was close to its target, yet failed. |
