VX Revolution is positioned as notebook mouse and in order to be successful representative of this class mouse has to conform to several criteria: to be light, to have as little as possible part which might be lost, to be compact and functional. Given it uses only AA battery, it is definitely light and very pleasant for using. Excellent designing solution is in scale-shape battery status indicator, visible only 10 seconds after switching on. It has high-level ergonomics, and after only few hours of work you will keep it in your hands like you are long-time friends. Connection with notebook is wireless, receptor can be placed into mouse body, and it has exceptionally small dimensions. One of rare objections is lack of Bluetooth connection, which would deprive many notebooks with integrated Bluetooth controller users from thinking about another USB connection.
Dimensions are slightly smaller than with his desktop cousin, although Logitech designers tried not to "mutilate" user already spoiled by desktop variant. Main difference comparing to MX can be seen in form of lateral wheel which can hardly be considered as lack, since we thought of it as almost redundant. Middle wheel is almost same as on MX, meaning it also owns free spin mode, and difference is in missing "intelligent" switching control between regular and "click to click" mode, but for this purpose is used switch on lower side.
Reason for this kind of solution, whether it is decrease of power consumption or Logitech simply wanted to distinguish these products, is vague, but we have to point out that this solution completely fits us. Logitech drivers already spoiled us, but it is not a surprise that you can program almost all imaginable function to any button. On the left-hand side are two excellent positioned wheels, and on the upper side beside wheel is zoom slider which did not fit us completely as it is, but it can be easily reconfigured for listing through tabs in Firefox or Opera. There is one new "search" button. It is enough to select function you are interested in and click that button, and page with search results from Google or Yahoo will be opened according to your desire.
Commodity and functionality of this mouse are excellent, and without any difficulties it surpasses most of desktop brothers. This review is too short for elaboration of all positive aspects, like huge teflon slider, great sense during button pressing and duration of single battery over three months, without negative impacts on response time or preciseness of work. Of course, all of this has its price which is identical to desktop model MX, which is rather large. But anyhow, the elite do not purchase cheap stuff. |
