Already traditionally, MSI provides very good performance for the invested money, and the models on this test carry no surprise. It should be noted at the very beginning that all 3 models are delivered without Windows installed.

Even though the business users may be pleased with Linux, that is certainly not the case with the gamers, so this must be kept in mind as an additional expense.

MSI MegaBook M677 Crystal is already well-known, since it is a model from the special Crystal series. This mobile computer has an extra-fine finish, with the lid in the “piano” style and decorated with Swarovski crystals. This gives it an extremely elegant looks. All 3 MSI models have the same graphics subsystem – nVidia GeForce Go 7600, which guarantees fine performance. As it is a bit more expensive than the L735 model, it is clear that it will only be interesting to the fashion-conscious gamers or female ones. For those who wish every € to go into more frames, read on, such models are following.

MSI MegaBook L735 and L745 are, when looked from the outside, almost identical. The only difference is a slightly different brim colour. Much bigger differences are found inside. The L735 contains in itself an AMD platform, while the L745 is a representative of the Intel “camp”.

As we already mentioned, they have the same graphics card; however, these processors work at different frequencies, so we couldn't do a direct AMD vs. Intel comparison. In this situation, thanks to the faster processor, Intel takes the first place away, but with a significantly higher price. If you carefully look at the specifications and test results, you will notice an anomaly. M677 has a faster CPU, but worse scores compared to L735 or L745 in gaming tests. The cause of this is actually the slower RAM memory on the M677.

All of the 3 models possess a DVI connector, and there is also a DVI to D-Sub converter in the bundle. What they also have in common is the 1.3 MPix webcam, as well as the card reader. To justify higher prices at least to some extent, MSI decided to also integrate a Bluetooth adapter into M677 and L745. The chronic MSI notebook disease is the battery life, so none of these models had a decent autonomy score. Production quality of L735 and L745 is average at best.

Touch pads are not as good as on the M677, whereas the picture quality is quite OK. The large keyboard has a numerical part as well, which eases some of the daily tasks. Although the L745 is faster, it appears to us that the difference in performance, quality or additional gear is not as great as the more than 20% difference in price. If you want to play games on your notebook, and you have a limited budget, MSI L735 offers the highest frame rate for the money invested.
