Gemstone Blue is more discreetly colored than previous versions of Aspire notebooks. Working area is divided in three areas. Area above keyboard is colored black and at its left side there is metal alloy button used for powering this notebook. On right side of this area is located button, for activating “Acer Empowering Technology” software. This button isn’t noticeable as it was on earlier models: it’s made of dark plastic opposing to earlier use of blue or green color depending on model of Aspire notebook.

Central area is reserved for keyboard and CineDash that is also colored in black. Keys on keyboard are shiny, but luckily without aspiration for collecting fingerprints. Keyboard looks nice and can be characterized as high-quality product which results in pleasant feeling while using it. Recognizable Space and Alt keys are also present.

Area below keyboard is reserved for touchpad which is nicely incorporated into rest of this area. At first glance it looks as indentation on palm rest (similar to HP 530 series but nicer and with better quality built). Touchpad and this whole area is silver-like colored with nice texture that breaks visual monotony. Only thing that we didn’t like that much was lack of distinct upper edge of touchpad, so our finger, on regular basis, got itself on space key.  Fingerprint sensor is located between left and right touchpad keys.

Working area of notebook is somewhat wider than base of notebook. So, locating ports that can be found on notebook sides is a little bit tricky. You need to move head to the side or raise notebook to overcome problem. On upper edge of display is located Acer Crystal Eye webcam that have risen above our expectations. Great picture quality and frame rate, even in poor light conditions, can satisfy almost everyone. If you don’t mind its static position it can be used even for making videos and the result will be very good as far as technical quality is concern. For voice recording you can use integrated microphones (there are two microphones integrated in this model).
