As it usually happens, after introducing high-end chips, NVIDIA is waiting for several months to thrill its potential customers with not so deep pocket. Unwritten rule says that the strongest model from middle segment is approximately one half of the fastest chip from high-end class. Attention should be paid to this, because this time Nvidia deviated from that rule, by introducing GeForce 8600GTS series. 
It has been quite some time since cards with G80 chip were introduced to the market. Until recently, manufacturers did not experiment in design, since they followed simple principle and obeyed rules. Not even Gainward, company being known for breaching specifications defined by NVIDIA, did not dare to make major modifications. The first one deviating from this rule is ASUS. 
AGP is slowly being forgotten. This is a sentence that we hear often, but AGP is still here. Is it the matter of ATI or NVIDIA, that is not relevant, until from time to time one of those subjects gives impulse of life to AGP. Accelerated Graphic Port survives like this for year and a half, and we constantly keep saying goodbye. 
The drought slowly starts in the field of graphics cards market. In last few months we tested all what we could, from G80 chip “on heaven” to the pure abyss between the cheapest models, so we "checked" all thoroughly. However, our sense tells us that we slightly ignored mid-class cards. We already talked about 7900GS in several articles, but Radeon X1950PRO was really weakly enlightened. 
In moment when their 8800 series of graphics accelerators are surrounded with dissatisfaction due to problematic driver support for Vista, NVIDIA decided to release another member of 8800 accelerator family. Goal is clear – to get interest wider circle of potential buyers to choose this DirectX 10 accelerator. Method of persuading is universal – price. 
It is fair to say that „History of IT industry“ is getting new pages. Pen is in hands of NVIDIA, and new chapter is entitled G80. It is new graphics processor which brings along radical changes. Given we were discussing everything in previous article, we will remind of only the most important matters.
