Page 5 of 6 Microsoft says that "Xbox is not Xbox unless it is Live". Many of those who encountered this option with original console will certainly disagree. However, Live 360 has shown true evolution comparing to its forebear. Now this is complete online world prepared to accept Xbox360´s "hooking". Not only you will be able to play most of the games with opponents from all around the world, but with this component you will be able to talk to them, add them into list of friends, download their latest patches for games and updates for console itself, and take over demos, trailers and music.
Of course, gaming is the most important component, and you are enabled to follow list of best scores for each game, participate in tournaments and leagues. Following success of Blizzard´s Battle.net, MS even introduced something they call "TrueSkill", which actually represents an option which will match you with an opponent being closest to your knowledge on certain game. Most of the games programmers partially or completely oriented toward Live, and in certain games you will not be able to unlock hidden characters or maps unless you use "Live" to beat certain number of enemies, play certain number of hours, etc.
And just to mention something else – each console own initial Xbox Live Silver prepay, which brings you certain online benefits, but not the most important ones like online playing, download of demos, multi-session conversation and similar. For service which has all of this, and even more, you will have to pay eight dollars a month.
