Before you start playing, it is necessary to adjust few basic options and make your own profile (both, offline and online). There is a language choice, making Xbox Live account, defining „avatar“ and command configuration on controller. There are „family“ and „parental“ options, like restriction of watching movies or listening to the music, defining what games are allowed to play and which are not, and of course, advanced adjustment of video output and audio environment.
So far we had numerous Xbox 360 titles, among which are Fight Night, Dead or Alive, Project Gotham Racing and many others, and we have to point out that quality of view and graphics are truly amazing. Certainly additional benefit to pleasure is good LCD with wide diagonal, and if you do not have one, it is perhaps better to connect Xbox to LCD monitor (under condition you have this option) than to home 52cm „oval“ type TV, because pleasure of game would be much, much better. This is exactly what Microsoft had in mind, and it enables connecting though standard VGA cable, which requires separate purchase, of course.
Controllers which we got in „Premium“ package are wireless, of course, which requires you „connect“ them for the first time with console synchronization button. After that, every time you want to use it, all it takes is to press central button on you gamepad and wait for Xbox 360 to assign four positions to controller. Additional weight of device is put because of battery compartment, which unfortunately has one fault. Namely, common AA batteries fits properly and are easy to take out, however, chargeable batteries seems to be with slightly bigger dimensions, and after initial putting in it would be genuine trouble to take them out for charging, more over because area for battery ejection does not have any kind of cable or „tab“ to facilitate removing batteries, or any other kind of aid. We thought the problem may lie in one special type of chargeable batteries and we tried with two more pairs, and the results were identical.
Beside this, controller itself has kind of a strange shape, and we still think that in this domain Sony made „a better deal“ with its device (which is exactly why new models are being minimally changed comparing to the original one). It is indisputable that Microsoft made quite a progress when we are discussing terms of ergonomics, and that hands are more tired after several hours of using, but it goes with a certain price. Xbox controller is simply too much „bloated“ and fits nicely to people with extremely big hands. This is exact reason why it is not easy to define finger pressing on certain buttons, and it may happen to you that you press next or between them, which will tired your fingers, particularly thumb. Rest of it is more or less standard. There are two analogues and one digital controller, four button on the right-hand side and four to be pressed with your index-finger, i.e. middle-finger of both hands. Besides that, there is main button for connecting, Start and Back.
Looking from aspect of competition, Xbox 360 is at the moment the most cost-effective for anyone who wants new technology, exceptional quality of graphics view and great entertainment, which is all possible to purchase in our country as well. Remaining true question is whether, upon purchasing console, you will be able to spare sufficient amount of money for purchasing games, because they are slightly more expensive than its PC version.
