ASUS VH222D
We already had larger brother of this model in our test lab in form of VH242H model. Back then, we weren’t too impressed with its looks. Piano finish is trendy, but overall design baffled us. Nevertheless, we should compliment this model as one of the tallest in this group, which is important since in most cases cheap models have unadjustable stands. Gradients were displayed almost perfectly, but slightly worse than best in this review. Viewing angles are wide. Relatively low response times are satisfactory for everyday activities, but in some cases can present problems.
LG W2243S-PF
Did you notice that LG pays extra attention lately on its monitor design? This is evident even on cheapest models. It is obvious that every detail is well though, without unnecessary extravagance, which resulted in product that does not sticks out too much in the crowd, but it is still easily recognizable. OSD menu looks nice and contemporary, but it is poorly organized. Luckily, most of important functions can be reached with only one button, but when you start looking for an option that can disable red power button backlight, you will realize what we are talking about. Best gradient interpretation has this model. This feature paired with great color dynamics resulted in great gradients. Lack of backlight breach is good feature, although black is not exactly “black” but rather a tone of dark grey in some areas. Viewing angles are average. Great response times put finish touch on this great “performer”.
