NVIDIA is challenging programmers across Europe to flex their coding muscles on CUDA, the only C-language environment that taps into the massive processing power of GPUs to solve a wide range of computationally-intensive problems. The competition invites entrants to create a mainstream stand-alone application or plug-in using CUDA, with valuable prizes on offer to the winners.
* 1st prize: an HP xw8600 work station (dual 3.33 GHz Xeon 5260, Quadro FX 3700, Tesla C870, 30" HP LCD monitor), worth 6500€ before tax * 2nd prize: an NVIDIA Tesla D870 card, worth 2317€ before tax * 3rd to 6th prize: an NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700 graphic card worth 877.96€ before tax
Suggested areas of focus include multimedia (photo retouching, video and audio etc.), security (firewall, anti-virus etc.) and management software (file compression and management) but all kinds of applications are welcome. Entries will be judged on originality, usefulness, difficulty and optimal use of the GPU’s processing power.
For more information, full terms and conditions and to enter, visit NVIDIA . The competition closes on July 18th 2008 so get coding!
