MSI Wind U100

Category of small cheap notebooks became very popular and there is no wonder why most of big brands want a piece of cake for themselves. But Asus got all of them off-guard. Because of that we’ve been waiting rather long for Eee’s true rival . We’ve already mentioned MSI’s agility which allowed them again to be first with new product on market. Their trump card wears name Wind and model that InsideHW had tested is MSI Wind U100. ...

Puma Platform for Notebooks

The long waited AMD platform for notebooks under the name PUMA is finally introduced and InsideHW had a chance to test notebook based on this platform. To all users that have been waiting cheap integrated graphics with good performances, time has come. Intel Centrino was so far “untouchable” in field of portable computers but AMD Puma, by all appearance, got a necessary quality to fight for highest position. ...

Prestigio Data Safe II Fashion Edition

USB hard disks lately become very popular. This especially goes for 2.5’’models. The reasons for that can be found in their usefulness and practicality. Yet, we are living in times when it is necessary to transfer huge amounts of data from place to place. At first, manufacturers on market fought with larger and larger capacity of these devices. Lately, when capacity stopped being key factor, manufacturers turned to HDD case design. On that field, Prestigio went step ahead of its competitors and launched Prestigio data Safe II Fashion Edition. ...

ATI 48xx Architecture

At the end of June, in Spain, we were introduced to a new series of 48xx graphics cards from ATI. We saw then only RV770PRO (4850) but at this moment 4870 (RV770XT) is also available. Even though our sources from AMD didn’t unveil why 4870 wasn’t shown on launching, we assume that some problems with quantities of available GDDR5 memory occurred. Considering that 4850 uses GDDR3 memory, it is no surprise that many retailers had them on stock. ATI 4870 will be sold, in beginning, exclusively with GDDR5 memory (this is the first graphics card that uses this memory) but AMD leaves a possibility that some innovative partner might launch later version that uses GDDR3 memory. ...

Sapphire HD 4850

It’s rare occasion to have on test, on the same month, new generation products from two big rivals (nVIDIA and ATI). This is really good news because ATI had some serious delays with R600 and that is one of reasons why it was so indifferently received on market. ATI realized that now must roll up its sleeves to catch up nVIDIA, because at that point seemed that nVIDIA unreachably moved away. ...

Cannon PC Media Center with 6 Cable Cards PDF Print
Written by Hideo
Wednesday, 25 June 2008

ImageMost of the typical home theater PC can’t record HD content from cable providers. There are some solutions to record programming from pay channels, but, even then it is possible to record only one or two programs.Cannon PC has announced a new home theater PC that allows you to record a whopping six programs at one time. The PC runs on windows Vista and uses Vista Media Center which normally only supports a pair of cable cards. Cannon PC has modified the system to work with six cable cards and still not use all the PCs available resources. Pricing and availability of the machine are unknown at this time.

Canon PC

Cannon PC demonstrated last week this capability to a select group of people and allso posted a video on YouTube and on their web site. The video shows the actual ATI Digital tuners, the Recorded TV section showing the 6 current recordings, the Performance Monitor showing how little impact the process has on performance and resources and the smooth video playback while all this is taking place. "We believe we are the first company to demonstrate such capabilities. Since Windows Vista for Media Center natively only supports 2 Cable Cards, we had to figure out how to modify the system in order to have it properly recognize more than 2 cards in the system" said Gregg Cannon of Cannon PC.

New Panasonic machine is based on Intel's Centrino Atom platform. Prototype versions have a touch-sensitive 5.6-inch screen under which is a compact QWERTY keyboard that's been split in half with a number pad filling up the center. The letter keys were divided to make them all within reach of the user's thumbs so its possible to hold the machine and type.

Panasonic Toughbook

The machine has been already shown at Cebit in Germany and then at the Intel Developer Forum in Shanghai, where Intel officially launched the Centrino Atom platform. As part of the Atom launch Anand Chandrasekher, head of Intel's ultra-mobility group, brought the Toughbook onto the Shanghai stage and deliberately dropped it to prove that the rugged machine would carry on working. Detailed specifications, global shipping dates and prices are expected this week.

BenQ Announces Full HD 21.5" Monitor PDF Print
Written by Sanjin Maneslovic
Tuesday, 24 June 2008
ImageBenQ claimed an industry first by updating its E series computer displays with a new, extra-sharp model. The E2200HDA is the first known desktop LCD to use a 16:9 aspect ratio that fits widescreen HD content without the black bars that come with most 16:10, non-native screens. It also stands as one of the most densely-packed displays outside of pro-level hardware: while measuring an uncommon 21.5 inches diagonally, the screen provides a full 1920x1080 resolution and will display 1080p content from Blu-ray, game consoles, or other sources without losing any detail.

The electronics designer also promises an extremely vivid image with a 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and automatic color adjustment. Pixel response times are the same as for recent 16:10 displays at an average 5ms, BenQ says. Not all input options are detailed, though the screen is known to have built-in stereo speakers.
