True to form Lenovo's X100e is in the works and it's an ultra-portable based on an AMD platform. It should use a 1.6GHz Athlon Neo, an 11.6-inch 1366x768 display and a multi-touch trackpad. Configurations will vary but should hold up to 4GB of RAM, a 3- or 6-cell battery, and between 160GB and 500GB of hard drive space. 320GB drive will come in two flavors, 5400 and 7200 rpm, so look what you are buying.
The system will come with as little as Windows 7 Starter but scale up
to Professional and is notable as one of Lenovo's first systems with a
"chiclet" keyboard. Base pricing for the X100e is expected to start at
$449, though options like 3G and Bluetooth will push this upward.
Lenovo's machine also packs a multi-card reader, a 0.3 megapixel
webcam, Gigabit Ethernet, WiFi, Bluetooth, a multi-gesture trackpad,
optional GPS, and a 3- or 6-cell batter, the latter enabling up to 5.1
hours of operation.
