We already saw these babes before, first on the Cebit and latter on at IFA, but now Verbatim Europe has introduced a line of ExpressCard SSDs that make use of AES 256-bit hardware encryption for data protection. Set to be used with laptops that have an ExpressCard slot, the drives are also shock resistant, support Plug & Play, and feature mandatory password input which is backed by an auto-formatting function that deletes all data stored after 10 incorrect passwords are entered.
Verbatim's SSD Secure ExpressCard is a hot pluggable, high security
solid state disk drive suitable for use in any 34mm or 54mm ExpressCard
slot equipped laptop or notebook computer, providing a convenient way
to add storage capacity without increasing the footprint of the laptop
with external devices or going inside the case to install hardware. The
SSD Secure ExpressCard has multiple access rights, enabling the main
user to provide a guest user with a separate password and access to the
folders and/or file types that they have determined. The guest will not
be able to see folders that were defined as blocked for Guest or be
able to access or copy files of the file types defined as blocked for
Guest. For starters Verbatim is offering 16GB and 32GB SSD Secure
ExpressCards, priced at £90 and £160, respectively, with a 64GB model
also coming up.
